Q: When should I receive surgical wound care (dressing) after having undergone breast cancer surgery?
A: The first dressing is usually scheduled 2-3 days after the surgery in order to make sure your skin is healing properly and treat possible complications that might arise (such as wound infection or underlying scar formation). In most cases, it is not necessary to remove the dressing because the wound is stitched up with resorbable sutures.
