Symptoms of kidney stones

Q: What are the main symptoms that may reveal the presence of kidney stones?

A: The most common symptom related to kidney stones is the infamous renal colic characterized by strong pain and often associated with nausea and vomiting. It is the result of acute distension of the urinary tract that puts pressure on the kidney stones along the urinary tract. Colic is nothing more than an attempt by the urinary tract to remove the obstacle and eject the kidney stone through violent peristaltic contractions. Another symptom is  fever that is often associated with chills and may imply the development of an over-bacterial infection. This infection is the most serious complication of urolithiasis and requires an urgent evaluation by a physician. Most often, urgent endoscopic surgery is required to resolve the urinary stasis. Urinary infection caused by a urinary stasis that is not treated on time can result in a septicemia (severe framework of certain systemic infection by the passage of germs from the urine into the blood) with very dangerous consequences for the patient's health.
