Pain in the umbilical region

Pain in the umbilicus is a feeling of malaise confined to the inner abdomen, located behind the navel. Most of the time, the cause can be found in disorders associated with gastro-intestinal system. The pain, which may be dull, continuous or intermittent, with peaks of pain alternated to phases of absence of pain, may be accompanied by: nausea, vomiting, belching, rumbling and flatulence, as well as fever and blood or mucus in the stool.
