The mangosteen is the fruit of the Garcinia mangostana, species belonging to the Clusiaceae family. Currently the leading manufacturer and exporter we mangosteen is Thailand.

Possible benefits and drawbacks of mangosteen

Mangosteen is rich in nutrients needed for the development and for the nutritional well-being. Devoid of saturated fat and cholesterol, it is a good source of dietary fiber and vitamin C. The latter, known for its antioxidant properties, helps the body get rid of free radicals and promotes healthy immune system. The B vitamins instead promote good metabolism, while potassium helps control heart rate and blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of stroke and coronary heart disease.

Currently the mangosteen is considered beneficial in cases of diarrhea, infections of the streets urinary, gonorrhea, candida infections, tuberculosis, menstrual problems, cancers, osteoarthritis and dysentery; It also seems that it can stimulate the immune system and improve mental well-being. At the moment, however, we have not collected sufficient scientific evidence to prove it.

The mangosteen may slow blood clotting.
