Kidney stones diagnosis

Q: How are kidney stones diagnosed? Do I need to undergo invasive tests?

A: Usually, an ultrasound is sufficient enough to examine your clinical situation, without the need for exposure to radiological examinations. If an endoscopy is necessary, you should proceed to undergo a CT abdominal procedure with coronal reconstruction that in 90% of all cases, presents all the necessary information needed to plan a surgical procedure. Only rarely is a urography needed to be undergone with contrast medium, which quadruples your exposure to high energy waves. In any case, you will not need to undergo any invasive tests that have been previously undergone in the past.
