Dysarthria

Dysarthria is a condition characterized by weakness, difficulty to control or coordinate the muscles used for speaking.

Characterized by an often confusing or slow and difficult speech articulation, the condition can be caused by taking certain medications or problems concerning the nervous system.

 

What kind of diseases can be associated with dysarthria?

Diseases that may be associated with dysarthria are the following:

  • Atherosclerosis
  • Botulism
  • Stroke
  • Wilson disease
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
