Bradykinesia

Bradykinesia is slowness in the execution of voluntary movements. Such as walking that becomes difficult to control with this condition. The basis of the disorder is dopamine deficiency in the brain, molecule essential responsible for the control of the voluntary movements.

Usually the symptom appears gradually, worsening over time and making it increasingly difficult to do even the simplest daily things.

 

What kind of diseases can be associated with bradykinesia?

The following diseases are associated with bradykinesia:

  • Parkinson's disease

What is the therapy for bradykinesia?

There is no cure for bradykinesia if it is associated with Parkinson's disease. However, drugs such as levodopa or dopamine agonists can reduce the state of the condition by increasing the brain levels of dopamine.
