The Department of Rehabilitation and Functional Recovery provides inpatient and outpatient services to over 14,000 patients each year. The team collaborates with the majority of Humanitas departments: intensive care, cardiac surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, neurology, thoracic surgery, pulmonology, vascular surgery, and general surgery.
The aim of the Department is to prepare the patient for the surgery and/or minimize post-operative complications and hereby facilitate a faster functional recovery.
The Department of Rehabilitation and Functional Recovery consists of three sections, dedicated respectively to orthopedic rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation and cardio-respiratory rehabilitation with over one hundred hospital beds. The Department, in addition to traditional therapies, implements the most modern techniques in order to offer the patient the best recovery of temporarily lost functions.
Patients treated in the outpatient setting can benefit from the facilities used in inpatient rehabilitation. The team also provides rehabilitation to patients with chronic conditions of the musculoskeletal system (osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, low back pain, neck pain, etc.) and those suffering from cardiac, respiratory and neurological diseases.
