It is characterized by a feeling like a burning sensation that usually occurs at the base of the sternum and often comes to spread.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This condition is frequently associated with gastric reflux. The symptoms that accompany heartburn are:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>asthma and recurrent pneumonia<\/li>\n<li>difficulty or pain when swallowing<\/li>\n<li>dental erosion<\/li>\n<li>nausea<\/li>\n<li>throat problems<\/li>\n<li>wheezing<\/li>\n<li>dry cough and persistent<\/li>\n<li>vomit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-kind-of-diseases-can-be-associated-with-heartburn\">What kind of diseases can be associated with heartburn?<\/h2>\n<p>Although GERD is one of the most common disorders related to heartburn, there are many other diseases that may be associated with this condition:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Angina pectoris<\/li>\n<li>Coronary artery disease<\/li>\n<li>Hiatal hernia<\/li>\n<li>Esophagitis<\/li>\n<li>Gastritis<\/li>\n<li>Indigestion<\/li>\n<li>Myocardial infarction<\/li>\n<li>Food intolerance<\/li>\n<li>Hyperparathyroidism<\/li>\n<li>Gastroesophageal reflux<\/li>\n<li>Stomach cancer<\/li>\n<li>Gastric ulcer<\/li>\n<li>Peptic ulcer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Remember that this is not an exhaustive list and it is highly recommended to consult your doctor, in case of symptom\u2019s persistence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-is-the-therapy-for-heartburn\">What is the therapy for heartburn?<\/h2>\n<p>The pharmacological remedies most commonly used against heartburn are based on the use of anti-acid, as the acidity is considered one of the most common causes triggering this disorder.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Among the most common non-drug remedies is the use of baking soda and milk.
