The entrance tests for the International Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, in English, for the academic year 2019/2020, are about to begin at Humanitas University: more than 1,200 young doctors who are aiming to earn one of the 150 available places will take the test at the Assago Forum (and at the same time in one of the other sixteen cities around the world) on March 15, 2019, from 11:30 am.
Of the 150 places, 100 are reserved for European citizens and 50 for those from outside Europe.
The IMAT admission test
The admission to the medical degree course of Humanitas University is regulated by the IMAT – International Medical Admissions Test – admission test developed by the University of Cambridge.
The test is based on solving 60 multiple-choice questions (with five possible answer options) on topics of general knowledge (2), logical reasoning (20), biology (18), chemistry (12), physics (4) and mathematics (4). A time of 100 minutes is given for the test to take place.
Medicine at Humanitas University: an international course
Highlight of Humanitas is the internationality of the programs, experts and students, so the course is entirely in English. Foreign students, coming mainly from Great Britain, United States, India, Iran, Canada, Germany, Greece and Taiwan, represent 39% of the students and many of the teachers have a strong foreign experience. In addition, the students are given the opportunity to collaborate with foreign hospitals, research centers and universities and short stays abroad thanks to dedicated travel grants.
A new way of teaching
One of the most important pillars of the Humanitas University training is the practice: from the beginning of the course in Medicine, Humanitas University offers the students the possibility to enter the hospital and, starting from the third year, to do the internship in one of the Humanitas hospitals, as well as to practice in a state-of-the-art simulation centre in order to learn the procedures and the maneuvers in total safety in order to train themselves in the field of communication and teamwork, which aspects have an essential role in the management of the patient.
In addition, the University supports students in dealing with post-graduate studies: preparation for access to specialized schools in Italy and the United States and meetings with foreign organizations to identify, above all, job opportunities.
