Semi-liquid Paraffin

Semi-liquid Paraffin is used to maintain soft feces in order to decrease the strain and effort associated with bowel movement. It is used in case of constipation after hemorrhoids surgery or other surgical operations that require a decrease in bowel movement efforts in the post-surgical period in order to empty the bowels before surgery, radiology and endoscopy.

 

What is Semi-liquid Paraffin?

 

Semi-liquid Paraffin creates an emulsion in the intestines with stool softening the mass. It also has a lubricating effect, which facilitates the expulsion of feces.

 

How should Semi-liquid Paraffin?

 

Semi-liquid Paraffin is taken orally or rectally (using enemas).

 

Side effects associated with Semi-liquid Paraffin

 

The most common recognized side effects associated with the use of this drug are abdominal cramps and diarrhea. You may also experience irritation of the rectum and reduced absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.

 

Contraindications and warnings associated with the use of Semi-liquid Paraffin

 

Semi-liquid Paraffin is used only for short periods of treatment. It is recommended to take the medicine according to the instructions given by your doctor. Do not give this medicine to children except under strict medical monitoring.
