Certoparin

 

Certoparin is primarily used to prevent post-operative venous thromboembolism.

Certoparin is an anticoagulant.

 

How should Certoparin be taken?

Certoparin is administered subcutaneously via injections.

 

Side effects associated with Certoparin

Among the possible side effects of certoparin include the following:

 

  • Alopecia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Thrombocytopenia

 

It is important to contact a doctor immediately if you experience: 

 

  • Rash
  • Urticaria
  • Itch
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Pain or tightness in the chest
  • Swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue

 

Contraindications and warnings associated with the use of Certoparin

Certoparin should not be used in case of high risk of bleeding.

 

Before starting treatment with certoparin, it is important to tell your doctor if:

 

  • You have any allergies to the active substance, its excipients or to other drugs or food
  • You are taking any other medications, herbal remedies or supplements
  • You are suffering (or have suffered) from hemorrhagic blood disorders, thrombocytopenia, peptic ulcer disease, cardiovascular disease, bacterial endocarditis, severe hypertension, esophageal varices or severe kidney or liver problems
  • You are planning on undergoing surgery in high-risk areas for bleeding
  • You are pregnant or breast-feeding
