Q: What are the symptoms and forms of hyperthyroidism?

 

A: Symptoms associated with hyperthyroidism include unexplained weight loss (despite having an increased appetite), hand tremors, excessive sweating, heat intolerance, palpitations, diarrhea, menstrual cycle irregularities in women, nervousness, irritability, insomnia, and difficulty concentrating. Hyperthyroidism can occur in the form of Graves’ disease which is associated with ocular manifestations characteristic of so called opthalmopathy Basedowiana (protrusion of the eyeball), periorbital edema and feeling of “sand in the eyes”.
