Hypopyon

Hypopyon is a specific scientific term used to describe the collection of exudate (fluid that accumulates in the interstitial spaces or in serous cavities as a result of an acute inflammation), purulent in the lower part of the anterior chamber of the eye. It looks like a whitish streak visible to the naked eye.

 

What kind of diseases can be associated with hypopyon?

The following diseases may be associated with hypopyon:

  • Purulent keratitis
  • Retinoblastoma
  • Corneal ulcer
